This site is a companion to the Japan Pensions Industry Database, the sole store of statistical and current contact information on schemes in the world’s second largest pool of job-based retirement savings.
The JPID offers intelligence similar to that provided by the databases on the other Big Four pensions markets but it shares no ownership ties with them.
Taken together they provide access to over 90% of world’s US$14 trillion in defined-benefit pensions capital.
- Canadian Institutional Investment Network
- MMD WebAccess (US)
- Nelson MarketPlace (US)
- Pensions Funds and their Advisers (UK)
The two US products also include details of American endowments and foundations.
Japan has no publicly accessible registry of pension fund information and the market has made a habit of secrecy so not all funds are prepared to reveal information. The country has very little by way of a pensions press.
One of the strengths of the JPID is its choice of data points and its long runs which now stretch back 16 years. This enables numbers to be derived even funds which have said little or nothing about themselves. The database is built in Microsoft Access which enables segmentation and retrieval by single or multiple data points.
In addition, the JPID holds statistical and contact information on such service providers as fund managers, trust banks and life companies.
